Celebration Squared

It has definitely been some time since my last post as life has been keeping me busy.  There are many life events and societal issues that I must discuss. We’ll start in chronological order and just hit each topic as it approaches.

Who knew that adulthood would be so busy and time-consuming?  Well, it has been that way for some time for my husband and I as we were on our quests for higher education (many of you may know this because we couldn’t be friends during this time LOL). In May of this year, we celebrated the end of school and the start of new beginnings.  We had a double graduation gathering as Roswell completed his Masters of Divinity and I finished my Masters of Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner!

We celebrated at Sage Woodfire Tavern with our family and friends. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with you and to those who send cards and well wishes!  We are done…for real!

Roswell and I celebrated together with a trip to Cancun, Mexico. It was very exciting and eye-opening.  The resort was beautiful, the food was good, but interesting and the scenery was breath-taking.  After spending a day or so confined to the resort simply enjoying its beauty, we decided to venture outside of the resort areas and immerse ourselves in the local scene.  We traveled using the local buses. FYI…there is obviously no speed limit or large passenger regulations as these buses drive so wild and so fast. You practically have to tuck and roll to exit!

We had a great time exploring the city, shopping, eating, and just being together.  In attempts to expand our knowledge of the culture, we decided to take a bus tour of the famous ruins of Chichén Itzá.  Long story short, it’s one of the most visited places in Mexico and one of the Seven Wonders of the World.  We were supposed to also go swimming in the underground caves.  WELL, this wasn’t so funny at the time, but now it’s hilarious. We had a great time exploring and learning, but on the way back, our bus broke down.  This is after already having to switch buses earlier at a snack shop.  So we sat in the heat of Mexico, in the dark for hours until they brought us another bus. People on the bus were from various places and they were nutting up. I just prayed that the Mexican cartel wouldn’t get us and slept in the arms of my husband. Good times. Great laughs!

The Bold and the Beautiful

As a blogger, these are my first official endorsements.  I’m a fashion-forward young woman so I like things that are bold and beautiful and things that keep me beautiful.  I am pleased when others introduce products that are beneficial, affordable, couture and gorgeous.  I am proud to say that the following information is indeed the gospel truth. :-)

Natural Healthy Hair Diva

This is a line of hair care products designed for natural hair.  We all know that I’m not natural, but the good news is, it can be used on permed hair as well.  The line seeks to grow, nurture, and beautify hair. I encourage all you natural divas out there to check it out.  Not only does it make you look good, but the products smell good as well.  On another note, the line also has products designed to smooth and nurture the skin.  Natural Healthy Hair Diva is the brainchild of my friend and sister, Ragonda Stallworth. Check her out on Facebook.  It’s official, I endorse this!

Bertram’s Exclusives

It’s no secret that I’m a little high maintenance and so are my friends. *wink wink* So when it comes to clothing and other apparel, we would not dare wear anything that wasn’t of the utmost quality.  Bertram’s Exclusives is an embroidery and rhinestone company with a special emphasis on Greek life.  Bertha Rambeau, with the aid of her husband Melvin, really do some quality work. If you’re looking for great apparel that’s made just for you, please check them out.  Myself and the rest of the local ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated have trusted Bertha with our paraphernalia needs.  She has T-shirts, sweaters, button-down shirts, scarves, tablet cases, hand painted portraits and so much more.  Check out her website to learn more and yes, I officially endorse Bertram’s Exclusives!
